Newspapers in the Nordic Media Landscape Upplaga 1

av Eva Harrie
Newspapers in the Nordic Media Landscape 2017 It gives us great pleasure to present you with the 14th publication in the Nordicom series Nordic Media Trends. This volume, Newspapers in the Nordic Media Landscape 2017, examines the newspaper development trends in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The Nordic region has traditionally been characterized as a “newspaper region”, with high circulation and extensive readership. But contemporary trends of globalisation and digitization have profoundly changed the media landscape and the way we use media, putting the strong position of the Nordic newspaper markets under pressure. With this publication, we have made an attempt to map the long-term development of the Nordic newspaper industries, looking at the trends from the year 2000 and forward. The volume offers detailed data and unique time series on the structure of the Nordic newspaper landscape (number of newspapers, circulation, etc.); the economy of the newspaper markets (advertising and audience revenues, indirect and direct state support, etc.); and reading trends (print and digital).
