Mapinduzi : a red-eyed view on Africa
Be the beholder. Not many good efforts to gather historic facts in relation to the African socialist evolution has been made, and the comprehensive ones are by now outdated. So, telling the story of the Marxist continent is an ambitious project, and also in many ways risky. It will at its best create some political understanding of how the continent may develop, but at its worst become a futile dream catcher in our harsh reality. - The most durable political ideology on the continent is red tinted, but only a few countries practise the ideology. The remains are cruel neo-liberal societies, where everything is for sale. So, Africa was liberated, but it was never freed. Africa is rich beyond comprehension, but it is the continent where famine always is present. Africa is often primitive and sometimes hard to understand. Still, it holds some of the best biochemistry laboratories in the world and, with more than thirty satellites in space, the continent cannot be that primitive and its scientific understanding must be obvious. So, Africa is diverse and dynamic. That is her strength. Any description of the continent is bound to be disputed. "Mapinduzi" is part one in a series of two books, complemented by a study booklet, making the series suitable as part of introductory African studies.
